Be sure to view a list of upcoming releases here!

Essential Full-Length Releases

Brazilian Girls - Let’s Make Love

This is the fourth album from this dance and punk band, who are not from Brazil, but from New York...and have only one female member. It's also their first album in a decade.

Watch: "Pirates"
Listen: "Karaköy"

John Prine - The Tree of Forgiveness

The latest album from this legendary singer features collaborations with a number of musicians influenced by him. This includes songwriting from Dan Auerbach, and guest vocals from Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires, and Brandi Carlile.

Watch: "Summer’s End"
Watch: "Knockin’ on Your Screen Door"

Say Sue Me - Where We Were Together

This is the third album from the South Korean indie rock band. They've mastered a jangly, sunny sound more expected from a southern California band than one from across the ocean.

Listen: "After Falling Asleep"
Listen: "Coming to the End"

Tinashe - Joyride

This long-awaited third album from Tinashe was first announced back in 2015. The delay reflects the difficulty she'd had in breaking through to mainstream stardom, but she remains a unique alternative to much of the pop that's out there.

Upcoming Album of the Week (Ending June 21, 2018)

My boyfriend and I recently watched the movie Hostiles, a movie we were both thoroughly unimpressed by, but there was an interesting tidbit in the IMDb trivia. Lead actress Rosamund Pike was apparently cast, in part, based on her performance in the music video for Massive Attack's "Voodoo in My Blood". It is one of the more memorable videos in recent memory.

"Voodoo in My Blood" came from the Ritual Spirit EP, but it's been eight years since their last album, Heligoland. If they announce a follow-up, look for it on my Upcoming Releases page!

This week, Cat Power announced her tenth album, Wanderer.

Cat Power has a career spanning back more than two decades and numerous critically-acclaimed records. Her style has moved between folk and punk, to even electronica on her last album, Sun.

That last record was a particular favorite of mine, one of my top records for 2012. She's been fairly quiet, at least musically, in the years since. She reported some health problems later that same year, and had a child sometime in 2015.

I figured the hiatus was in part to focus on her family and that it may be a long while before getting new music, but on July 18, she announced the new album. No songs from the album have been unveiled yet, but we did get a snippet of music in the trailer for the album.

Wanderer is set for release on October 5.

Christine and the Queens is fronted by Héloïse Letissier, who got her start in 2010 working with a backing band of drag queens, hence "the Queens". She released her debut album, Chaleur humaine, in 2014.

The first single from the new album, the Dâm-Funk featuring "Girlfriend", was released in mid-May in both English and French ("Dam, dis-moi"). The album containing that single was announced on July 5.
