Upcoming Album of the Week (Ending September 7, 2019)

In an effort to get the rights to Peppa Pig, Hasbro recently purchased eOne. In the purchase, they now own a variety of record imprints, including Death Row Records. Not all artists on the impacted records are happy. Dan Boeckner, whose Operators is on Last Gang Records, voiced his opinion on Twitter, noting the acquisition was unlikely to benefit the imprints' artists.

Maybe frustration with the arrangement will drive some creative output from the artists. If that happens, check it out on my Upcoming Releases page!

Recently, Sturgill Simpson announced his fourth album, Sound & Fury.

Kentucky native Simpson made a big impression with his sophomore album, 2014's Metamodern Sounds in Country Music. That album, and the one that followed, 2016's A Sailor's Guide to Earth, made it onto multiple year-end lists.

The new album was announced back in July, but did not get a release date until a couple of weeks ago. The album is a bit of a stylistic departure for Simpson, one that he describes at "leazy, steamy rock’n’roll." The album will also be accompanied by an animé series on Netflix, soundtracked by the album and to be released on the same day.

Sound & Fury will be released on September and will include the single "Sing Along."
