Brigid Dawson has been an on-and-off member (currently off) of Thee Oh Sees since 2005, providing keyboards, tambourine, and backing vocals for the band. Ballet of Apes is her debut album, in which she collaborates with former bandmates, and current and former members of Fresh & Onlys, Sic Alps, and Total Control.

This is the sophomore album from the co-lead singer of Wilder Maker, following 2017's Shitty Hits. Inspired partially by Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, this album pushes Von Schleicher past the lo-fi sound of her debut.
