Gorillaz - "Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach"
This video is in stark contrast to the cartoony videos they've put out from their Plastic Beach album so far. The video features Snoop Dogg...and only Snoop Dogg. It's not a terribly exciting video, but Snoop is always awesome.
Adele - "Rolling in the Deep"
This video is for the lead single from her upcoming album, 21, out in February. True to her form, the song is angry and, if this is what we can expect from the new album, I'm pretty excited. There's a lot of interesting metaphorical imagery in the video, matching the tone and feel of the song. Sounds like another boy broke her heart.
Tame Impala - "Expectation"
If you haven't heard of Tame Impala, no worry, they're a fairly new band, but have been gaining a lot of buzz lately. They have a trippy, psychedelic sound and a video to match. I think they're one of those bands you'll hear a lot from next year!
Perfume Genius - "Look Out, Look Out"
This is another new artist starting to pick up buzz. This guy's music is very emotional; his debut, Learning is one of those albums you know was born out something terrible. The video matches his music, emotional and sparse, yet beautiful.
Neon Indian - "Mind, Drips"
Another trippy, distorted video, this one from a band that is fairly new to me. This video was my first introduction to this band and I loved what I saw and even more what I heard. Their music is an interesting blend of two genres that are huge right now; synthpop and noise pop. They've created a really great sound, I can't wait to check out more.
Daft Punk - "Derezzed"
Daft Punk and Tron go together almost perfectly. This video is for a song from the Tron Legacy soundtrack, released this past Tuesday. The video has that signature Tron style to it. Great song, too.
