My Favorite Albums of 2014 (so far...)

2014 has started off strong with a slew of my favorite artists releasing predictably amazing albums. There have also been some great albums from bands I was previously unaware of or a little cold on. At this point of the year, it's pointless to try and rank everything I've liked. So, presented below in no particular order, are my favorite albums from the first half of the year!

Dum Dum Girls - Too True
Marissa Nadler - July
St. Vincent - St. Vincent
Future Islands - Singles
Cloud Nothings - Here and Nowhere Else
Mac DeMarco - Salad Says
Timber Timbre - Hot Dreams
The Afghan Whigs - Do to the Beast
Chet Faker - Built on Glass
Lykke Li - I Never Learn
tUnE-yArDs - Nikki Nack
Sharon van Etten - Are We There
Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks - Wig out at Jagbags
Damien Jurado - Brothers & Sisters of the Eternal Son
Broken Bells - After the Disco
Nicole Atkins - Slow Phaser
Beck - Morning Phase
SchoolBoy Q - Oxymoron
Real Estate - Atlas
Roman Remains - Zeal
Black Lips - Underneath the Rainbow
Perfect Pussy - Say Yes to Love
The War on Drugs - Lost in the Dream
Liars - Mess
Wolfmother - New Crown
S. Carey - Range of Light
Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks - Enter the Slasher House
EMA - The Future's Void
Ratking - So It Goes
Woods - With Love and with Light
Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots
Olga Bell - Krai
Wye Oak - Shriek
Lily Allen - Sheezus
Ray LaMontagne - Supernova
The Black Keys - Turn Blue
Chromeo - White Women
Sylvan Esso - Sylvan Esso
Tori Amos - Unrepentant Geraldines
White Sea - In Cold Blood
Owen Pallett - In Conflict
Trash Talk - No Peace

There is already so much great music out this year, but the rest of the year is looking promising, as well. We will be getting two albums from members of the currently-on-hiatus The Walkmen; Hamilton Leithauser and Peter Matthew Bauer. There are debut albums that I'm already excited about from Banks and Sam Smith. Also, there are some sure-to-be-stellar releases from established musicians like Common, Jack White, Interpol and Spoon. I'm getting excited just thinking about it all!
