Upcoming Album of the Week (Ending August 8)

Check out a list of the upcoming albums, singles, EPs, soundtracks, and other releases that I'm interested in here. Sure, it's a little selfish to only focus on what I like, but you can go here or here for a more comprehensive list.

This week's most anticipated release comes from a brand new band, EL VY, who announced their debut album, Return to the Moon, on Tuesday.

EL VY is a two-man band consisting of Matt Berninger (frontman for The National) and Brent Knopf (formerly of Menomena).  Until recently, members The National weren't especially known for musical work outside of the band, but that changed as Bryan Dessner began focusing on compositional work. Earlier this year, another member of the band struck out on his own; Bryan Devendorf, the band's drummer, released an album with Pfarmers. Interestingly, Pfarmers is made of members of the same bands. Devendorf started the band with David Seim, also of Menomena.

The debut album from the second The National/Menomena side project of the year is set to be released on October 30.
