Essential Full-Length Releases
David Bowie - Blackstar For the last record released during his lifetime, David Bowie turned to the subject of death. It seems a poignant subject matter for a man who would turn out to be near the end of his life. The album was released on his 69th birthday, then the legend died two days later. It is the latest in a long string of acclaimed albums from him, but if the rumors are to be believed, it won't be the last; he was planning to release even more material before the end. Hinds - Leave Me Alone Hinds is an indie rock band from Madrid who were originally known as Deers. After threatened legal action from The Dears, they changed their name to the name for a female deer (I actually think it's a more interesting name). Despite the name change, they haven't shifted from their raucous garage-influenced sound that garnered praise from critics and fellow musicians. After a few singles released since 2011, this is their first album. Watch: "Garden" Watch: "Chili Town" |
