Upcoming Album of the Week (Ending June 4)

Filed under things I never expected to hear, let alone enjoy, Beck has taken up rapping. He released a new song, "Wow," this week. His rapping on the track is unexpected, but not unpleasant. No word yet on whether this is the precursor to a new album, but you can check out a list of upcoming albums at my Upcoming Albums page!

Compared to last week, this week was much slower for new music announcements, but there were a couple of exciting items. One of these announcements came from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, who announced their 16th album, Skeleton Tree.

Though he's recorded music with several bands (The Boys Next Door, The Birthday Party, Grinderman), Nick Cave's longest-running and most prolific project has been Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. The band started in 1983 and released their debut album, From Her to Eternity, the next year.

The band's last album, Push the Sky Away, was released three years ago, but they have spent the past couple of years reissuing much of their back catalog. The band teased the new album last week, but gave only a general timeframe for its release and no name. Now the album has a name, artwork and a specific release date!

Skeleton Tree is set to be released on September 9.
