Upcoming Album of the Week (Ending March 18)

The SXSW festival is going on this week. Preceding the festivities, were numerous stories of international artists set to perform who were kept from entering the US. While some appear to have been due to misunderstandings of existing visa laws, I have to wonder how many amazing international musicians will be kept from their fans in the US, either because of policy or perceived attitudes, over the next four years. Hopefully that will not be the case, but who knows.

As always, a list of new music I, at least, am excited for can be found on my Upcoming Releases page.

This week, Feist announced her fifth album, Pleasure.

It's been a little while since we last heard from this Canadian singer-songwriter. She released her last album, Metals, in 2011, though her last bit of new music was a split single with Mastodon (Feistodon) released for 2012's Record Store Day.

Feist has become best known for "1, 2, 3, 4", but has put out four solid albums over her 26-year career. She has also worked with many other greats from the Canadian indie music scene, including Chilly Gonzales and Broken Social Scene.

The new album was announced on Tuesday and the title track released just a few days later.

Pleasure will be released on April 28.

Also announced this week:

Drake - More Life (March 18)
Joey Bada$$ - ALL-AMERIKKAN BADA$$ (April 7)
Kamaiyah - Don’t Ever Get It Twisted (April 21)
Kasabian - For Crying Out Loud (April 28)
Mike-WiLL Made-It - Ransom 2 (March 24)
New Order - NOMC15 (May 26)
